Bpos Posted August 18, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2017 You will be able to buy liquor at supermarkets in Singapore and Malaysia. Be prepared for a shock, prices of alcohol in both countries is very expensive. CAnnot comment about Sri Lanka, never been there.

iancal Posted August 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 20, 2017 You will find liquer in Langkawi, Malaysia much less expensive than in other parts of the country. I believe it is a tax free area. We went from Thailand to Langkawi and found beer, etc. to be more expensive. When we left and went to Penang it really became expensive compared to Langkawi or Thailand. Just be aware that taking liquor into Singapore from Malaysia it will not be treated as "duty free" and you may be required or asked to pay tax on the bottle(s)
cruising cockroach Posted August 20, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 20, 2017 Malaysia (well, KUL) has duty free on arrival and prices aren't too bad. Can't remember the situation in CMB (we bought in FRA). Actually, I do seem to recall there may be duty-free on arrival in the area after immigration but before baggage check. Local brew in Sri Lanka isn't too expensive or too bad but you can't buy on religious days (montlhy on a lunar cycle).

Sorry to disappoint you but Malacca and Penang will be expensive, for example, 22 years ago I went to Cold Storage (supermarket) in Penang to buy a 4 liter carton of Australian Stanley Cask white wine. At the checkout it came to $76 Australian Dollars (buy for $14 here now) - give it a miss and drank beer.
