Andee Posted September 29, 2017 Author #26 Share Posted September 29, 2017 I booked our cruise exactly one month in advance. Where was I 8 months ago? In a gondola at Keystone ski resort doing CPR on DH who has in cardiac arrest. He spent 29 days in the hospital with many, many complications. You probably aren't aware that you're coming across somewhat smug and superior about booking far in advance. Rare LHT28 Posted September 29, 2017 #27 Share Posted September 29, 2017 you cannot force people to join the roll calls or even predict if a roll call will be busy or not in 2015 we had an active roll call for the same cruise in 2018 the roll call was very slow Our upcoming Dec cruise is slow (booked in Aug) you never know what any roll call will be like I book my own tours now & if we want to share I will post it but it is more of DIY these days as we are not up to all day go go tours enjoy the cruise
Rare pinotlover Posted September 29, 2017 #28 Share Posted September 29, 2017 Andee; There are always exceptions to every situation. I doubt that only a tiny group of cruisers on your upcoming cruise has such situations as yourself. I can honestly say that my last cruise was largely undersold so O made incredible deals with those on both ends of our cruise to do b2b. This added a lot of late cruisers, with in the last 60 days, looking to book shore tours. Lyn is very right on in her last point. I believe that finding groups to book with, on the roll calls, has become more difficult the last couple of years. Today, there is a lot more "we don't want to start a tour until 10 or 10:30, and we must be back by afternoon tea. Nothing over 4.5-5 hours with a nice stop for lunch." Or, "nothing demanding any difficult walking or long standing ". It wasn't always so difficult, and, as Lyn suggests, a lot more DYI or small groups, that have toured together before, setting up tours outside of the roll calls.
