mommajo22 Posted January 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2018 I am hoping some fairly recent Ruby Princess sailors can help me with this. We will be sailing on the Ruby Princess in March and want to do a whale watching tour while in Cabo. The best tour appears to be Whale Watch Cabo but I am a little concerned about timing. We arrive in Cabo at 7 but it is a tender port and I have no idea how long it takes to get off the ship. The tour is at 8:30 and the office is about a 5-10 minute walk from the pier. The tour company says that the 8 am Zodiac tour will be tight but not as much a problem with the 8:30 regular boat tour. I am still a little worried. Has anyone done this or can tell me how long it took to get off the ship?
sassyredhat Posted January 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2018 We may be on the same cruise--March 25th ?? Honestly, I think that is cutting it close. Several things depend on how fast you personally will be able to get to the pier. If Mexican authorities clear quickly, and if you are on a ships tour, then you may be ok. Ships early tours usually get off first. If it's a private tour, then who knows.? Patti
bobnsofi Posted January 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2018 yes, problem, best to grab a whale watching tour on shore, plenty of vendors Also, Cabo is a deep, Deep, DEEP water port, this means the ocean can be extremely rough. As you arrive you can research CURRENT ocean conditions. Cabo calm ocean is lovely, Cabo rough ocean can be life threatening. death defying, survival memories for a lifetime
SadieN Posted January 11, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2018 End of March is late in whale season. Also, Cabo is an hour ahead of LA time. Plan accordingly.
mommajo22 Posted January 11, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted January 11, 2018 Thanks for the replies. I decided to go with a private sailboat tour that will leave between 9 - 9:30. We will be in Cabo on March 8th, so hopefully not too late in the season to see whales.
TMR2 Posted January 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2018 That’s exactly why we booked a private trip too as they set the time that worked with out Port times and the trip was incredible, you can’t beat a private tour . Who did you book with?
