Villefranche Beach

It is quite a small beach and I haven't seen any chairs or umbrellas. We just sat by some rocks and enjoyed the sun and the swimming. I didn't see any lifeguards (secouristes) anywhere but I am a strong swimmer so not too bothered and with lifeguard experience am well aware re swimming in the sea. It is a sandy beach down by the area of the rail station. The beach shelves away quite quickly (no "Southport-type" pain of having to walk for miles to get a swimming depth!) There are little shops close by which sell beach paraphernalia so you might be able to get some beach-handy items. I took swimming towels from the ship to go with us, sun screen etc. I have seen word of another beach at Villefranche and I wonder if it is on the opposite side of the bay. As you get off the tender and go inside the port buildings there is a tourist info office so you could ask there.
