fire at san jose market and is it closed?

i am reading online on another social media site ;););)that there was a fire at the san jose marketplace and that it is now closed. i do not think it is so, but wondering what others have actually seen or experienced in havana recently.

Apparently there was a fire on June 3rd which damaged something like 18 shelves of merchandise. The article does not say that it is closed and given the size of the place this sounds relatively minor.

thanks for the info. people who have recently cruised are saying it is closed or was closed over the june 6-8 period anyway. thanks again!

We were in Havana in the end of June. Yes the market is closed because of a fire that wiped out many stalls, per the tour guide, the HAL Exe guide and the locals. They informed us that it will take at least a month ( from the time in reference) for the market to reopen.

 

Just curious, why you would think it is not so?
