Rare mkcurran Posted August 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2018 Has anybody been to Deer Island. I'm thinking this might make a good beach day. I'm thinking of booking this through the ship. Thoughts?
klfhngr Posted August 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2018 We've gone there on at least 4 cruises.. DO NOT BOOK via the ship!!!! You can do it on your own! When you exit the ship area, make a LEFT and walk for about 10 minutes. You'll then make a left at the end, you'll know when. You'll jump on a little boat that will take you over. It's a couple of dollars each, or less!! When you get to the other side, someone will give you a ride to the beach area. That's another buck or so! We used to hang out at Victors', but we heard that he's not doing well. We hung out at Letys' last time, and it was great! They'll hook you up with water sports, food, drinks, etc.! Enjoy! And again, DO NOT BOOK on the ship, it's a ripoff!

konatyme Posted August 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2018 Yes, Victor's and Lety's are Stone Island, not Deer Island.

HALCruiserChris Posted August 23, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2018 You say "dollars". Is there any advantage to having Mexican money? Also, are credit cards a good or bad idea?
NeedToVacation Posted September 16, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 16, 2018 We're cruising in November, and I'm looking at going to Deer Island through Aqua Sports Center. I guess we'll take a taxi to their shop at the beach. Then they charge $13.50 per person for the roundtrip boat to the island and back. If you need snorkel equipment, beach chair, & umbrella it's $40. per person (that includes the R/T boat ride). Look them up if you want. When you get back to their beach area, you get a free hour use of a kayak. * And lots of reviewers said to walk just down the beach to have lunch at "Carlos & Lucia's". * We're just planning on using US dollars everywhere.
