Disembarkation If Ship Returns to Original Embarkation Port Before End of Cruise?

We did a East/West Caribbean b2b a few years back. For the turn around in FLL, we were advised to go to the Princess Theater for the CBP check. 400 passengers had to sit around for an hour because one clown didn’t think that the rules applied to them. They were only located because they tried to use their cruise card at a bar. There were definitely some icy stares in their direction as we were finally allowed to leave the theater.

This was not an option for us at the time. Everyone on the B2B had to gather and once cleared you go out to FLL with an "intransit" card but everyone had to be cleared together first. We actually had the cards but decided to re-board and have lunch & drink instead of FLL.

It should have been. An in-transit passenger can disembark anytime once disembarkation has started for departing passengers or can stay on board until the meeting for in-transit passengers that have not left the ship.

Also, in-transit passengers have the option to take Princess excursions on turnaround day. They will also be off the ship before the meeting for in-transit passengers that have not left the ship.

Depends on how the port handles it. At Seattle, all in-transit passengers, at least those that do not leave the ship and opt to stay on the ship between sailings, are required to disembark after all the rest of the passengers have left, go off and clear CB&T and can then re-board the ship.

I strongly recommend disembarking independently and then getting back on after boarding begins. Sitting in the lounge or the theater waiting for the stragglers to show up was like being in grade school assembly, only worse. There's plenty to see and do in Fort Lauderdale, especially if the weather is nice. In the worst case, go to the nearby Starbucks and take advantage of the free and fast internet.

I can't agree more with you. Had we figured out this was an option we would have walked off first thing. As you point out, even if it's just to go to Starbucks to have coffee or do some shopping for the second leg. Anything to avoid the group clearance thing. Will certainly keep this in mind if/when we do another B2B.
