Can one write a personal check for cash onboard?

I received a birthday card from RSSC yesterday. Nice, yet I was hoping for some OBC!

I don’t know about writing a personal check but there are at least two things you can do to get cash onboard. First, each passenger is entitled to get $400 without fees from the purser. It just goes on your account like a regular purchase. Second, you can use the gift order form (https://www.rssc.com/sites/default/files/2017-12/MK_OCT162447-Bon-Voyage-Gif_122117.pdf) to send yourself refundable shipboard credit prior to the cruise. I have successfully used both methods in the past. Hope this helps.

The Boss and I have birthdays in August. She gets a card from Regent every year and I get the cruise bill.
