Chinese Visa

We need Chinese visa's for our Shanghai to Tokyo cruise. We were issued a Chinese visa in January 2012 for a

land tour. Is this still good even though it's in an expired passport? Has anyone used Regent to get their Chinese

visa? Thanks!

Did you get a 10-year visa? If so, it is still good in an expired passport assuming there have been no changes to name, nationality, etc. You will need to bring your expired passport with you.

Was not a 10 year Visa. It was a 30 day visa.

There have been some recent changes to tourist visa requirements for China, have you checked them out to see if they may apply to you?

You will most likely need a new visa. Check into the visa free travel as mentioned in the post above, but my understanding is that it applies to arriving by air rather than; cruise ship.

If it was a 30 day visa, issued in 2012 for a single entry, it won't be good now. Read the visa carefully. You need to be within the stated time frames and have a multi-entry visa to use it again.

 

For those with a still valid Chinese 5-year or 10-year, multi-entry visa in an expired US passport, bring both passports (expired passport with the valid visa and the valid passport); you'll be fine. Assuming no info changes as BBWC notes. I have no knowledge of visa rules for citizens/passports from other countries.
