Couple of reasons:

1.  Were those posts made during the down time (on the Floataway Lounge)?  Any posts made then disappeared when the new format opened.

2.  It may only look like they are "missing".  On the old format, there were 20 posts per page.  New format is 40 posts per page, making threads "shorter" now.
