What to do on Christmas in San Juan

Hi! We are cruising on the Sunshine over Christmas and will be in Port at San Juan on Christmas Day?  Will everything be closed that day or will some things be open due to the ships coming in?  Looking for something to do with my husband, my mom, and 2 teens.How are the beaches?  Any suggestions?

beaches are open and beautiful. I'm pretty sure most shore excursions will be operating. As religious as San Juan is, i would assume most small retail will be closed.

I would assume shore excursions as well.  If they are booking, they are open.  A lot of restaurants will most likely be open, too.

We were there last year on Christmas Day. Our cruise didn’t arrive until the afternoon.  There were a few restaurants and shops open .  Restaurants were all pretty crowded.  There was also a little street market area that had tables set up selling crafts and food.  I have no idea if this is alwYs there but it was fun also

I wish I had the date on hand, but right around Christmas, there was a boat parade at night, where the locals string lights and it was so festive to see!

 

Puerto Rico / San Juan area will be celebrating in various ways!
