cruzn4fun Posted November 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2018 We are leaving on a Viking Danube cruise on 11/14. We have been searching for information about the water levels and how this is being handled. I thought this may be helpful to others. For us, we received this email from Viking yesterday. Glad we will get 1/2 the time on the water at least!!! Just sharing in case others who are going are wondering how some of the alterations are being handled. Dear Viking Guest,This message is to update you regarding low water levels on the Danube River and your embarkation. As water levels have not yet improved, your ship will not be able to reach its regular embarkation port. In order to stay as close to your original itinerary as possible, you will now embark Viking Bragi in Budapest on Day 1 and be welcomed on board Viking Vilhjalm in Vienna on Day 2.To ensure your arrival is as smooth as possible, please follow the instructions below:Once at the airport in Budapest on Day 1, please collect your luggage, exit customs and find the Viking representative in the arrivals area for transfer to your ship. Please be sure to wear your Viking sticker, enclosed with your pre-trip materials, so that you will be recognized by transfer staff. If you are unable to locate the Viking representative at the airport or are already in Europe traveling independently, please proceed directly to Viking Bragi, at one of our regular docking locations in Budapest. If you are on a pre-cruise extension in Budapest, you will be transferred to Viking Bragi following your extension. On Day 2, after completing your Budapest shore excursion program, you will transfer by motorcoach to Vienna (150 miles) for embarkation. On Day 3, you will travel to Bratislava by motorcoach (50 miles) to continue your shore excursion program and return to your ship in Vienna. Your standard itinerary will resume from Day 4.Although we are confident that we will provide you with a great experience, in consideration of the impact low water will have on your itinerary, we will be extending a Future Cruise Voucher for 25% of your paid cruise fare. The voucher can be used toward any future voyage with Viking—river or ocean—and will be emailed to you after your return home.

Bizmark'sMom Posted November 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2018 Thanks for the post. I get onto an airplane heading to Vienna in 2 weeks, and have had no communication from Ama about itininerary changes. The information has all come from reading this board.
