Cultural self guided excursion

I’ll start with saying I prefer people and cultures over animals and nature. So sting rays and pretty scenes are cool, but I really want to explore cultures. Our ship docks at Georgetown @ 10:30, and hits the sea at 6:00 on a Wednesday in February. Any suggestions how we can spend a few hours immersed in Cayman culture? Maybe an off the beaten path authentic restaurant? Bus ride to other towns/villages?

All suggestions appreciated!!

Ummm...that's a toughie.  Cayman isn't really your quaint Caribbean island.  It looks kind of more like Miami or Palm Beach in the areas near the port.

In town, within walking distance of the port is a museum - www.museum.ky - and lots of high end and duty free shopping.  :-)

You could rent a car and go further afield, but your ship isn't really there long enough to do much, by the time you tender and get/return the rental car and tender back.

Spots to see outside of town might be Pedro St. James - http://pedrostjames.ky - and the botanical gardens - http://www.botanic-park.ky/

Cayman Safari - http://www.caymansafari.com/ - has some good tours that go to other parts of the island if you don't want to rent a car.
