Laundry in Southampton

 Share

Recommended Posts

We are taking two cruises that disembark and embark in  Southampton ( RCCL and NCL) & neither has self serve laundry. We'll have one overnight in Southampton between cruises. Can anyone tell us where there's a self service laundry near the port please or at a hotel that has self service laundry. If we send laundry out it has to be in by 8;30 to get back the next day, this won't work, since we won't be  at hotel by 8;30 TIA.

Very probably both ships will port at Berth 101, City Cruise Terminal.

Atlantic dry cleaners https://www.atlantic.uk.net/branchlocations.htm

have two self-service launderettes in the city centre, at Bedford Pace and St Mary's St, but you'd really need a taxi hop to either from the cruise terminal (a line of metered taxis at the terminal, fare will be under £10 & no problem with drivers accepting a short journey)

I think Atlantic offer a limited service for a nominal fee whereby staff will switch your laundry from washer to tumble-dryer, then fold it ready for you to collect - but I suggest you double-check with them by e-mail.

Bedford Place is marginally the better location, it's at the top of the city centre shopping street (called Above Bar) and just a 5 minute walk from the Sea City museum -  so you can amuse yourselves while your laundry is going thro' the system.

For your return there's a taxi rank on Above Bar opposite the War Cenotaph & by Titanic engineers' memorial - ask your driver to point it out en-route to the launderette.

Thanks for the info. Is there a hotel you'd recommend near the Atlantic Dry cleaners. We currently are booked at the Holiday Inn near the cruise . Are we better off there, or at one near the laundry?  T Hanks,

There's a new Premier Inn ( a renovation of an older hotel) just a couple of minutes from the launderette in Grosvenor Place. Premier Inn is a very well -respected national chain (another Premier Inn, Premier Inn West Quay, close to Hol Inn, is very popular with cruisers.)

But it's not convenient to City Cruise Terminal, and Hol Inn (or Premier Inn West Quay) are ideal - you'll also meet up with other cruisers at those properties.
