I'm not sure why you are answering a question asked in January, but everything is charged to your S&S card, it's just a matter of how you fund that card. Carnival automatically deducts all bar purchase from bar cash until it is depleted. If you happen to use all bar cash and still have cruise cash available (or on board credit) then it will deduct from he other sources.
pacruise804 Posted October 22, 2019 #28 Share Posted October 22, 2019 I'm surprised how many people are fine with moderate drinkers spending close to $800 on Cheers for a 7 day cruise (2 in a cabin) for the "freedom" of not having a bar bill even though they know they might not drink enough to justify the purchase in a break even analysis, but then criticize the thought of spending $300 (or more) less in bar cash. For those where Cheers would only make sense for one person in the cabin, Cruise Bar cash would be a cheaper way of achieving the same goal without the limitations of Cheers. People who are less willing to purchase a drink if they have to "pay" for it (compared to a drink package) might also be less likely to indulge with a gift card or regular cash thinking that if they spend it now they wouldn't have it to cash out later. I don't use any cruise cash, but can see situations where it can be a good idea.
