shiphound Posted February 24, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2019 Celebrity will confiscate any wine bought in any port and give it back to you at the end of the cruise. We will be on a cruise on Celebrity Reflection going through the Mediterranean. There are excursion options to wineries, etc., and cities with wine stores. Don't have any issue with the fact that I could not open any bottles that I get on the ship (well, I do, but that is not my question). If I want to buy wine to bring home, how will the wine be stored by Celebrity? I don't want to buy any decent wine during the cruise and have it ruined by the ship storing it in too warm a place. Anyone know?
capriccio Posted February 24, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2019 If you haven't already, I recommend posting this on the Celebrity board where it will be seen by more Celebrity cruisers: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/16-celebrity-cruises/
leaveitallbehind Posted February 24, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2019 (edited) Expand this to most cruise lines will hold wine (or any other alcohol) bought in ports of call for you instead of allowing you to keep it - and perhaps open it - in your stateroom, not just Celebrity. As to how it will be stored, it won't likely be refrigerated but will be kept in a temperature controlled environment. How will it be stored at the places of purchase prior to you buying it? How will it be maintained as you transport it home once off the ship? I would think the on board storage would be just as stable.
