CarnivalCruiser32 Posted April 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2019 We're going Southern Caribbean on the Carnival Horizon for my niece's birthday. She will be turning 5! We've looked at the excursions on Carnival's website and some of them sound okay but none really stand out as something we HAVE to do. She can’t snorkel and we doubt she’ll be down to learn any time before her birthday because of the mask situation. Maybe she’ll prove us wrong? Who knows? In the meantime though we’re looking for something to do in Curacao that ideally involves a beach and swimming of some sort. Maybe an Island tour thrown in there as well? We’ve never been before so any tips/tricks/advice/personal experiences you’d like to share we’d greatly appreciate!! Especially looking for folks to share experiences with the Carnival shore excursions as we’re a little nervous to take one apart from the cruise line. We’re willing to consider other excursions but would just feel better if it were with Carnival if possible
trophy_23 Posted April 9, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2019 Check out Irie Tours. Look through some recent threads you’ll see them recommended a number of times. We recently did their beach hopping tour and it was great. We snorkelled at each stop, but some people just sat beachside or swam. It might be a little long for someone that young though. Rare crewsweeper Posted April 9, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 9, 2019 For a low cost "tour" just DIY a walking tour and look at the buildings and parks in Willemstad. Grab a drink or food at one of the restaurants along the water side by the swing bridge. https://www.guidetocaribbeanvacations.com/curacao/Willemstad1.htm

Do you see much of the island other than just going to beaches?
trophy_23 Posted April 10, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2019 (edited) Basically drove around a good portion of the island, and the guide gave commentary as we went and pointed out important/scenic/historic points. I don’t think we saw as much as we may have because of ‘carnival parade’ detour, we doubled back over the same road for a portion.
