IrishLassie Posted April 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2019 Does anyone know if there are rental cars at the port? We are planning on staying in Spain for over a week when we get off the ship so don't want to have to go to far to pick up a rental car. Thanks for any info. Rare Hlitner Posted April 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2019 We have never seen a rental car franchise working at the cruise ship port. When we have needed a car in Barcelona we usually rent from one of the agencies located close to the train station (a 10 min taxi ride from the port). There are numerous rental car stations (some of them in hotels) in the downtown area. Hank

Are you in Spain? If so, would you know how the roads are from Barcelona down to Rota, Spain? We've never been to Spain so don't know what to expect! Thanks again for any help. Yes , we live in Southern Spain (Andalucia). Major roads in Spain are excellent and most of your journey would be by motorway.

Thanks so much for your help with this, really appreciate it.

hkto Posted April 16, 2019 #9 Share Posted April 16, 2019 (edited) Which Rota? Actually Rota is near Cadiz and it'll be more like 11-12 hrs to get there. The one in Catalonia is Cerra De la Rota which is couple of hours by car. Edited April 16, 2019 by hkto

hkto Posted April 17, 2019 #11 Share Posted April 17, 2019 Vueling goes to Jerez airport from Barcelona once per day. It's a good reliable airline. And very reasonable if tickets purchased in advance. Rota is about 30 min from Jerez airport
livylotte Posted May 3, 2019 #12 Share Posted May 3, 2019 (edited) I recommend Sixt. Sixt - Parallel Port Carrer de Paulaudaries 5, 7, 08004 Barcelona We hired from them last year and they were very good. Our car was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. They are very close to the port just 5 mins from the port by taxi. Taxi rank is literally in front of you as you leave the ship so no walking with heavy bags.
