Could you please tell me which dining room is open for lunch on embarkation day on Diamond Princess?

If you don't get advice ahead of time, check the Princess Patter that will be waiting in your cabin. On the back page, under Dining, it will show which dining room will be open.

On the Diamond (and the Sapphire) last year, the International Dining Room, aft on deck 6 was open for embarkation lunch.

Normally the aft dining room is the one that is open for lunch on embarkation day.

 

However the crew will attempt to direct you to the buffet, say no and demand the MDR

Not true, at least in my experience. On the Golden, in May, I simply asked which dining room was open for lunch and I was directed to the proper  dining room. I didn't have to demand anything.
