Luggage storage at Joburg airport

Recommended Posts

We are returning from Capetown off a cruise then onto a small jet for Safari, I was told you could store your luggage at the airport.

If anyone can give me advise and location it would help.

Yes, there’s a facility called A-Teck in the basement. I have never used it, so can tell you nothing more, I’m afraid!

BagPort South Africa, the original company that provided a luggage storage service at OR Tambo International Airport, has changed its name.

It now operates as Ateck - from the same premises down the escalators at the main exit of Terminal A arrivals, on Basement Level 1, going towards the Parkade 2 (South).

Costs are : (NB : CASH ONLY! No Cards Accepted.)
0-5 hours: R70.00
6-12 hours: R80.00
12-24 hours: R90.00
24 hours or more: R90.00 per day.

Open 24 hours, every day of the year.

Contact details :
Tel : +27 (0)11 390-2318
Ateck does not have a website at present

I believe the price is per bag.

Anyone know if you fly from Capetown to Johannesburg if there is just one airport for domestic and International?

The main airport in Johannesburg, O.R. Tambo, has separate international and domestic terminals. There is another airport, Lanseria, that handles domestic flights only, some from Cape Town, on a small number of budget airlines.

FedAir uses OR Tambo, as you’d expect given its main business is shuttles to luxury wildlife lodges. So you should be fine to drop your luggage.

By by the way, I don’t know if you realise that the post from Lunenburg above is just a copy and paste from a website, dated abut 5 years ago. I have no idea if that data is still accurate, I’m afraid.
