Rent a car from cicar and drive to teide. You can buy a ticket to go to the top. Theres also places to hike there. If you like nature and enjoy hiking, you will love it. You do not need a tour.

I was just about to write exactly the same answer. CICAR are one of the best car hire companies in the Canaries and have a base at the cruise terminal.
