canadianbacon Posted January 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2006 Hi We're on the Spirit March 8/06 to the Mexican riviera. Has anyone been to the Dolphin encounter in Ixtapa? We have three kids eager to go, but we are looking for some feedback before booking. Also wondering how non-participating parents get there and back. Would the kids fees also cover the cost of the parents ride? Thanks!
katgar Posted February 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2006 Dan, Check out the port section, there's one for the Mexican Riviera and you might find something there! Can you believer we're only a month away? Kathy

In Ixtapa and Mancenillo we did the Resort stays and had a great time, they are both inclusive so the drinks and food are on the house. My guest would be that your parents will have to take a Cab ride to the dolphin location.
cherylandtk Posted February 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2006 The Dolphin Kids excursion is specified to be for children aged 4-7 only. Here is what is says in the shore excursion guide regarding parents: Note: The adult companion participates only as a passive support and to bring some confidence to the child. The first adult does not pay any cost, a second adult riding along will not be allowed in the water and will pay a small fee directly to the independent Tour Operator for round trip transportation and entrance fee. So one of you could go with one child and the other parent with the second/third children, assuming your kids all meet the age limits. The other Dolphin excursion offered is the 'Dolphin Swim' and is designed for adults and children aged 8 and up. How old are your children? canadianbacon Posted February 3, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted February 3, 2006 Thanks for your help. We have just booked the "dolphin swim". Those of us that are not taking part will probably catch a cab so we can watch. Hopefully it's not too far, and is close to a restaurant / bar..... The kids swim would have been a better choice, but our 2 of our kids are too old to participate.
cherylandtk Posted February 3, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2006 FWIW the tour descriptions said about a 30 minute ride to the location. The full swim, for age 8 and up, is only 10 dollars more than the kid version. I realize these are pricey excursions, but you might consider having one parent go with the two older children while the other parent goes free with the youngest child. It would cost you the one parent's excursion fee, but you would all get to participate that way.
