thebird Posted April 18, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2004 And yet someone else said to bring any of the above, or a piece of wood to wedge the door open. Also, with a balcony, if you want to keep the door open, and want the air conditioner to keep running, to bring a round (nickel sized, or so) magnet to put on the silver disc - on the top of the doorframe (when you open it) and duct tape to tape the magnet in place after you have it attached. AllenF Posted April 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2004 On the glory you did not need a magnet ( i brought 1) to keep AC on I looked for what ppl said was some type of device on top of door frame ....could not find it...and AC stayed on so my magnet was not needed.....perhaps some rooms are different on older ships anybody know? 11/02/03 Carnival Inspiration 03/20/04 Carnival Glory 12/13/04 Carnival Legend 04/17/05 Carnival Spirit Till the Legend Sails Taking the Spirit West Aloha style

NewEnglander Posted April 18, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2004 We sailed the Paradise. Our balcony room had a hook on the top of the door that you could hook to the partition between balconies to keep the door open. It was great to have the ocean breeze in the room ... we didn't notice any change in the air conditioning with the door open.... Since we sailed the NCL Majesty to Bermuda... Catrin Posted April 19, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 19, 2004 We used the strap from our luggage last year ... and it worked out great! The best part of a balcony cabin? Salty Dawg Posted April 19, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Think wedgie... big wedgie. A large wedge-stlye door stop works much better that the bungee cord trick. Place it on the side of the door (wedged between the actual door & door frame) & it works great! For your own safety & security, remember to close & lock your balcony door when you leave your cabin. Not all Carnival ships require the magnet to keep the air conditioning on when the door is open. We did have to use that tip on the Spirit, Legend, & Glory. Enjoy your cruise...
