letscruisegd Posted January 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2006 I believe I read somewhere that cruises need to be booked at least 48 hours prior to sailing. Does anyone know for sure if this is accurate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
GoinCruisin Posted January 29, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2006 I thought it was 72 hours... if there is a cruise you are interested in, just call Carnival and find out if there is space left and if you can book it.
letscruisegd Posted January 30, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted January 30, 2006 Looks like my traveling partner needs to hurry and make a decision. I was waiting on that before calling Carnival. I was getting a little concerned about waiting too late so I thought I would see if anyone knew the time frame for booking. We're looking at going this Thursday which means we need to book by tomorrow if it's actually 72 hours. Thanks again...
wannacruisemore Posted January 30, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2006 Wow..... I didn't realize you could book that soon b/4 the cruise date. I wonder if all the balcony's are gone?
hdawson Posted January 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2006 Often times as the sailing date gets near and the number of cabins is limited, the price goes up. Probably the best prices are about 40 to 30 days before sailing and after final payments are due and some people cancel.
rayswoman Posted January 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2006 We booked our Elation cruise (9/05) the day before sailing.
LHP Posted January 30, 2006 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2006 but I have heard the 72 hour requirement quoted a lot. However, if you are a frequent cruiser as we are and all our passport info is already filed with Carnival...they may made an exception.
cruise-4-ever Posted January 30, 2006 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2006 I was told by Carnival a few years ago 3 business days not including weekends. I don't know if this is still the policy
PADutchman Posted January 30, 2006 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2006 We had table mates on one cruise that said they booked the day before. If there are rooms why not ?
LHP Posted January 30, 2006 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2006 for the day hubby retires. I would be delighted if they had some kind of "stand by" list where if they don't fill a ship at the Port of New Orleans or Mobile (hopefully Gulfport, Ms some day) ...they would give you a call a few days ahead and see if you are interested in going. Astronomer Posted January 30, 2006 #11 Share Posted January 30, 2006 So, on embarkation day there is not a guy walking around with a ball cap on backward scalping. "Get your Cruise tickets here, we got your balconies, we got your Suites, right here folks!"
