Escape vs Joy

We have been on the Escape twice. For our next planned a cruise both the Escape and the Joy are sailing the exact same itinerary on dates that will work (Jan 2021.) There is no real price difference. What are some of the key differences and which of the two would you pick? I know the Joy doesn’t have a thermal spa but that’s not a big deal to us. We don’t care about the rock climbing, zip lining, ropes course, waterslides, go carts, etc. We are a group of six ladies ages 50 to 80 (me, my sisters, our mom, and her sisters.) What we want most are quiet areas to sit and enjoy each other’s company and the sunshine and some good entertainment (and don’t really care for the Escape’s offerings of After Midnight and Choir of Man.)

The Joy and Escape are sisters.

The Joy may be great for you. In addition to the waterfront, the Joy has the Observation Lounge which provides a ver large, enclosed public space with spectacular views (takes up 1/4 of Deck 15).

You’ll find most of the familiar places from the Escape on the Joy.

Another consideration is that the Escape will undergo a major dry dock before your sail date where she may become closer to the Joy in branded facilities  (but not an observation lounge).
