Miami Seaquarium

Our flight home after our cruise doesn't leave until 9:00 P.M.

we dock in Miami and fly Ft Lauderdale airport

Need something to do for the day other than sitting around airport

planning on renting a car for the day to not have to worry about luggage

 

Has anyone visited the Seaquarium

it looks like knock off Sea World ? which my son (12) has never been to

 

any info about it would be great

Seaq' is OK ... it is much older than SeaWorld and does show its age with tanks being smaller etc ....

and of course today SW is as much about rides as animals ... SQ has no rides.

 

but ticket is about half the price so ....

one thing I like to remind folks thinking of doing something outside b4 your flight ... if summer time, it is gonna be HOT and you will cook and be sweaty when you're heading to the airport ..... not MY favorite way to fly.

As a Miami native, the Seaqarium is an institution. Old school marine park. 

Lolita the whale has been there since the early 70s. It’s a shame, but times evolve.

I too have a late flight and trying to decide what to do.  Its only my husband and me and thought we might do a South Beach food tour.  I am thinking of leaving luggage at Luggage Lounge for the day.

other kid friendly places to consider:

 

Jungle Island https://www.jungleisland.com/ ... now on Watson Island (close to cruise port) this place traces history back to Parrot Jungle which was done in by hurricane Andrew.  Primarily an animal park today.

 

Miami Children's Museum  https://www.miamichildrensmuseum.org/  next to Jungle Island on Watson Island .... this one is mostly indoors.

 

a lil further away but in your range is Zoo Miami aka Miami Metro Zoo  https://www.zoomiami.org/ an excellent zoo

Since you are flying out of Fort Lauderdale, why not do something there?  Or go do an airboat tour, water taxi, hang out at Hollywood Beach, etc.
