MaryL31 Posted December 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2019 Please forgive me if this has been discussed previously. My husband and I have, in the past, earned certificates to be used to reduce our cruise fare. We will never earn enough points for a free cruise. The last 2 years, we simply had to apply the certificate within 2 weeks of earning it. This past cruise, we earned $100 each and called Club Royale a few days after returning to apply the certificates to a cruise we had booked onboard. Club Royale, for the first time, claimed they had to "reprice" the cruise (for the date I called) in order for us to use the certificate. Needless to say, both cruises we booked onboard were now $186 more (literally 5 days later). That made the certificates useless, as we would be saving a total of $14. I would like to know when they started doing this? Has anyone else had this experience? I wrote to Club Royale, and their response was a bunch of corporate BS. Sunshine3601 Posted December 8, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2019 I'm not sure when they started repricing to use a casino certificate but I know they have been doing for at least 18 months. I have an upcoming cruise in january that I booked in 2018. Couple months later I had a certificate that I wanted to apply and was explained they had to do reprice. In that case I was saving something like $150 to use my $200 certificate so I did it. Remember sometimes a reprice will change port and transfers fees too. MaryL31 Posted December 9, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted December 9, 2019 Thanks for they reply. And I think I misquoted the length of time you need to book within, which is 30 days after earning and receiving the certificate.
