Live4cruises Posted January 2, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2020 That’s what we’re on in April on the Zaandam. Which makes me ask - Will the hotel staff join in Ft Lauderdale, our embarkation point? I wonder if it’s more or less involved to prepare a ship that has been empty rather than one that has just disembarked passengers? We are Neptuners on this trip, so eligible for the early boarding groups, and we like to board as soon as possible because — well, why not! So, I’m curious if there’s anything unusual to expect on the immediate post-drydock trip. Thanks,
RuthC Posted January 2, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2020 The hotel staff should have stayed on board during the drydock. That's the normal way things are done, as they have quite a bit of work to do.
DFD1 Posted January 2, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2020 (edited) Hope you like surprises because sometimes ships leave dry dock before all the work is finished....but not always. Sometimes the craftsmen working on the ship just sail along with the passengers to finish their work...but, again, not always. There are lots of stories around about unhappy passengers who don't find things quite "ship shape" on the first cruise after dry dock, or on the first sailing of a new ship. You'll likely be fine and have a great time, but you might expect the unexpected. By the way, we like the Zaandam very much and have sailed on her two or three times. Good Luck.
