ezspirit72 Posted January 31, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2020 Has anyone taken this free shuttle from Yamashita Pier to the Daikoku Pier Cruise Terminal recently? I downloaded a map showing meeting point but was wondering if there is a sign posted at the meeting point or some other landmark??? We'll be staying at the Hotel Monterey Yokohama and walking over to the pick up spot.
BruceMuzz Posted February 1, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2020 Hardly anyone ever goes to Daikoku Pier - except the employees who work there, handling containers. Your hotel is very close to the Meeting Point. There is a small park between the street and the meeting spot. You will approach a tall wrought iron fence with just one or two entrances. One of those entrances will get you access to a large open space with buses. That is the meeting spot. There are usually staff there at the entrance with direction signs.

Or whether getting a taxi is simpler.

Buses run every 10-20 minutes and takes about 15 minutes to get to Daikoku where there is 2 large tent buildings where you drop your luggage and register. buaya123 Posted April 17, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2023 Anyone know if there's a free shuttle from Yamashita Park to Daikoku Pier is still available? And where can i find the details? Was told not all transport connections have resumed, based on someone who was travelling around Japan in Nov 2022.
BruceMuzz Posted April 17, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2023 Daikoku Pier is primarily a cargo pier. There is a Yokohama City Bus that transports the cargo workers from downtown Yokohama to that pier. It is not free, but very inexpensive.
ROCruiser Posted April 18, 2023 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2023 We were on the Diamond Princess in March 2023 and took a taxi to Daikoku because we were not aware that that were free shuttles taking passengers over from Yamashita. Some passengers on the same sailing told us about that afterward and said they were notified by Princess that there was such service.
