Either would be fine and offer lots of nearby dining, but for two nights why not look at staying in South Beach instead of downtown?

Can you tell me a little about South Beach? What there is to do and can you recommend some nice hotels and I will check it out.

Thanks

South Beach is the southern end of Miami Beach -closest to the city of Miami.  It is the "Miami" that you typically see in the movies and TV shows.  Lots of older, boutique hotels to choose from, as well as some larger, more modern hotels.  Besides great dining, people watching, the beach, art deco architecture, museums, art galleries, etc.. I can't think of anything to do in SB.  There's also hop-on/off bus tours that will take you around Miami and Miami Beach.

Dates, budget and who is travelling (honeymoon?  family trip?) will help the suggestions to be closer to your target.
