refusing to refund my deposit - options?

Recommended Posts

Gday Guys,

not cruise related i know....

Paid a $4k deposit for accomodation on an resort in Fiji for a trip that covid cancelled..

Got $2k back as it was for the meals plan - all good.

They are refusing to refund the last $2k .

they said the dep was non refundable, but i was only told of that AFTER i paid the deposit.

I would really appreciate some assistance as to what options i have

No sign if flights to NZ yet, let alone Fiji

Cheers

Did you pay by credit card? Depending on the time limit that applies to your card/bank, you may be able to get the amount refunded under a 'charge back' because of 'non-supply of service'. All the best.

If you are beyond the time limit that applies to your card, maybe you could ask the resort to issue you with a voucher for a future holiday. That isn't a great option, but it would be better than losing the money. They could go with this option because it would mean they would get even more money from you when you do go in a year or two's time.
