glowbug Posted February 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Leaving for our cruise on Feb. 26th on the Mariner. Does anyone know if they have rooms on the ship where you can go to press your clothes or do laundry. Spoke to someone who said that they have rooms like that on the Princess lines but I never saw them on Royal Caribbean - maybe because I was not looking for them. Just wondering............ Leaving in 10 days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Max Circus Posted February 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2006 No such rooms on Royal Caribbean. They offer laundry service pressing which I found very reasonable. The prices are found on the RCCL website.
glowbug Posted February 15, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Thanks for the information - I will bring along a traveling iron just for touch ups if needed on formal wear that gets wrinkled in suitcase.
Nliedel Posted February 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2006 The laundry does a FABULOUS job pressing clothing and even my husband did not toss a hissy at the price (The guy who frets over spending 5 bucks on something but buys the most expensive large ticket item he can. Go figure).

Don't be surprised if it gets confiscated - travel irons are not permitted - check your documents.
PortugueseLady Posted February 15, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2006 I have always taken my travel iron and have never had a problem....go for it....:)
Nliedel Posted February 15, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Here we go again. Call the cruise lines and ask if you can bring a travel iron. The answer is going to be a universal "no". Fire on a ship is deadly. Please don't break this rule.

Toots Posted February 18, 2006 #9 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Has anyone had good results with a steamer? Any brand you can recommend? Feels a lot safer than an iron.
aimmike&meg Posted February 18, 2006 #10 Share Posted February 18, 2006 We had our travel iron confiscated on both our Voyager cruise and our Navigator cruise, we will be using a steamer this time or sending them out to be pressed, it is my vacation and I definetly don't want to be doing laundry anyway! Pattis_61 Posted February 18, 2006 #11 Share Posted February 18, 2006 A friend of ours took a travel size steamer last year and they said it worked great. My DH and I always send out sundresses, his dress shirts and pants and suit and my formals the first night we get there. It is very reasonable and they are nicely pressed. No matter how hard I try to pack neatly, everything is all wrinkled.
Coralc Posted February 18, 2006 #12 Share Posted February 18, 2006 I just wear my clothes with the wrinkles. They either get more wrinkles while you are wearing them, or they sort of disappear while you are wearing them. In any case, some folks (on this board) are more likely to criticize WHAT you are wearing, rather than the wrinkled condition of it. :D THERE ARE NO IRONS ON ANY RCCL SHIP.:) I wouldn't want to iron on vacation. I don't even iron at home, DH does.:)
