Accessibility on the Adventure of the Seas and on Coco Cay

Recommended Posts

I wanted to share a little of the our impressions both on the Adventure of the Seas and Coco Cay. We have had the opportunity to explore the ship and we spent two days exploring Coco Cay, and I can say that we have not seen any accessibility challenges for people with disabilities.
On the ship, there is a lift by the main pool, and there are open elevators so that people in wheel chairs can access the flow rider viewing area, and the bridge viewing area.

There has been good space for wheelchairs and scooters in Studio B ( Ice arena) and the Lyric Theater for the main shows. All of the specialty dining rooms have good wheelchair accessibility, and we experienced the same in the MDR.

Coco Cay is also very accessible, but to access some of the venues and shopping areas, you would need to transfer to a sand or beach wheelchair. The Coco Beach Club is completely accessible including the floating over the water cabana's which are incredible.

The Coco Cay Beach club restaurant has delicious food, and if you are in a cabana, they will deliver your lunch to your cabana.

Other that the steps to climb to use the slides and tubes in the water park that area is accessible, including a no step entry on paved surface for the wave pool.
There are beach wheelchairs and beach baby buggies available around the island. You can park your scooter or change from your wheelchair to a beach wheelchair and get to any of the beaches.

Thanks for sharing this info. We are planning to get a thrill water park cabana for the family, one of whom is in an electric wheelchair. We have been told by RCI that the cabanas are accessible, fingers crossed. Switching to a beach wheelchair is not an option. It would be nice for everyone to spend the day together, enjoying the water slides and relaxing in the shade. Will report in after our cruise about the waterpark cabanas and with other accessible tips.
