Seattle - Does Customs and Border Protection use Facial Recognition

Has CBP installed the facial recognition scanners in the Seattle terminals or are they still doing checks by officers?

Nope, quick passport checks manually by officers.

I disembarked NCL Bliss last Saturday at Pier 66. One moment in front of a facial recognition scanner and that was it - no keycard swipe for checking out of the ship, no passport check for exiting the terminal.

 

For check-in, yes, there was a physical passport check.

Wanted to add that I disembarked in Pier 91 and it was still manual. Looks like they're giving the new technology to 66 🙂

I departed at a Pier 91 on May 10 and they were basically waving everyone through as long as you held up your passport. I never stopped walking once in line all the way through the checkpoint. There is no way they were even looking at the name or photo.
