KeepOnCruisingJG Posted May 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2022 We are booked on Celebrity Constellation in August, sailing r/t from Ravenna; we booked flights to/from Bologna because it's closer than Venice. Looking for suggestions on the best way to get from Bologna to the cruise terminal in Ravenna. We arrive the day before the cruise so could either spend the night in Bologna or Ravenna. Car rental looks to be around $300 for a day! Train could be an option but no direct line; need to transfer in Rimini and trip takes about 3 hrs 10'... euro cruiser Posted May 24, 2022 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2022 (edited) Where are you getting your train information? There are plenty of direct trains between Bologna and Ravenna, the trip takes 70 minutes and costs 8 euro. euro cruiser Posted May 24, 2022 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2022 Once in Ravenna you still have a trek out to the port, it's about 13 km/8 miles from downtown Ravenna. Right now there aren't a lot of options, it' either the public bus or a taxi/car service. At some point they may bring back the port shuttle bus, or you can check with your cruise line to see if they offer transport.
KeepOnCruisingJG Posted May 24, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted May 24, 2022 @euro cruiserrome2rio.com - once in Ravenna we can get a taxi; shouldn't be too expensive for an 8 mile journey... Port shuttle bus would make sense since cruises are no longer allowed in/out of Venice! Celebrity offers airport transfer but out of Venice 😞
euro cruiser Posted May 24, 2022 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2022 Rome2rio is a starting point but it's often wrong and/or incomplete, as in this case.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted May 25, 2022 #6 Share Posted May 25, 2022 I'd recommend getting to Ravenna and spending your pre-cruise night there. Ravenna is well worth spending some time in. It has wonderful mosaics dating from the 5th century AD when it was one of the capitals of the Roman empire. Easy to walk around and see most of the sites if you book a hotel in the center. The food is also wonderful.

Celebrity offers airport transfer but out of Venice 😞 I was reading a LIVE RCL trip report yesterday and the poster said the Port was running a shuttle from the train station to the port . $10pp. They didn't indicate the timing, but for such a short distance a cab might be cheaper and easier.
