Hi All,

My husband & I just booked Uniworld's Brilliant Bordeaux for this August.  This will be our fifth cruise w/ them-love Uniworld!  We're interested in any & all details/opinions/etc about this itinerary/ship/food/etc as well as Uniworld's overall Covid protocols.   We also booked their pre-cruise extension in Paris & would like to hear if anyone has info on that as well.  I know we could have done the Paris part much cheaper on our own but after the last few years we just wanted to make things as easy as possible (if easy is even possible anymore LOL).  Our last trip to Europe was in 2019 & silly as it sounds I feel like I'm out of practice.  So, details please-the good, the bad & the ugly.....

Thanks in advance!!

We just came back from this trip and had a great time. Stayed in the pre cruise hotel called Hotel du Louvre. We loved the location of this hotel. Wasn't a big fan of the included breakfast since anything ordered from the menu took forever and was often cold. The breakfast buffet was ok.

This was our first river cruise with Uniworld and we really liked it. The service was great.Always asking if we needed anything. We had the french balcony room. Beautiful decor and loved how Uniworld does the French windows where one can stand outside like a mini balcony. The big problem with the room was how cramped it felt. We've done two previous Viking cruises and even though the bedrooms were small it had a superior design where one didn't feel cramped.

Loved Barbara one of the tour guides we had on this trip. Try to get in her group if you can. Ask away any questions you may have.

Hi dollover,

Thanks for the quick reply!  I'm glad you enjoyed your trip.  We actually stayed at the Hotel Du Louvre several years back & I remember the breakfasts.  Both mornings we were there our orders took forever & both mornings mine was wrong-ugh.

Uniworld's cabins are really tight-we got used to bumped elbows in the bathroom pretty quickly.  On our last trip I put the chair from the room in the closet.

Was most of the sailing during the afternoons or overnight?  How are the ports?  Do you dock near some of the towns or is everything a bus ride away?  Did you take mostly the walking tours or do any of the biking?  I think we're leaning toward the walking tours.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip!

On this trip we docked right into town so that was really great. If you wanted to do wine tasting and other sights those required a bus trip but 30 min at the most if I'm remembering correctly. At times we stayed overnight and sailed the next morning. These ports are fantastic. Hard to pick a favorite but Saint  Emilion was really amazing. Make sure you do the walking tours. You will have a great time.
