Crazy planning mom Posted June 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2022 (edited) Hello. We are taking a cruise that stops in Limassol this October. The 2 days prior to Limassol we have long full day tours. We are in Limassol 630-1430. So, looking to just get off the ship, go for a stroll and stop in a cafe. Is there anything walking distance to the port or are these buses from the port that go to town? Also, if my husband decides he wants to sleep in, is it safe for a woman to walk around by herself during daylight hours? Thank you. carlmm Posted June 26, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2022 The city centre is too far to walk but there are public buses available. It should be perfectly safe to walk around in your own. Tourists as well as business women and other locals will be around.

Rare cruisemom42 Posted June 29, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2022 Be forewarned, Limassol is not a city that offers much of interest for tourists. It is a dusty, rather dispiriting place. The rest of the island is so beautiful -- it is worth trying to get even a little taste. For example, not too far from Limassol (about 18 km) are the pretty Greek and Roman-era ruins of Kourion (Curium). It would be fairly easy, I think to take a taxi on your own and see them. I have visited Limassol twice on my own (as a solo woman traveler). Not sure why you'd have any particular concerns. I felt very safe. I visited Kourion on my first visit then walked a bit in the town after returning (not a good impression). The second time I went a bit further to visit the ancient site of Paphos where there are wonderful ancient mosaics and a pretty seafront.

wineoclock Posted August 13, 2022 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2022 Limassol is very safe. Not much near the port though.
wineoclock Posted August 13, 2022 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2022 If you want to do something different this is different but would need a car or taxi. It’s a unesco world heritage site. Never understand why it’s not cruise ship itinerary unless to preserve the site http://www.mcw.gov.cy/mcw/da/da.nsf/All/4EF92D50616EFE49C225719B00314171 In Limassol itself there is the marina as well but don’t know how far from the port. There are lots of cafes but again not sure where in location to the port. There is the old carob mill area which you may find interesting but I don’t know what it’s like post covid. I know Larnaca like the back of my hand but Limassol less!
