Recommendations for dining in Oslo Norway?

We are doing our own extension in Oslo, so we would dearly love your recommendations for dining in Oslo…we will be there for 2 nights at the very end of August 2022.

The Grand Cafe.  Expensive, but worth every NOK.

Norda - The top of the Clarion Hub hotel.  Great View. Expensive.  Had great lobster roll and I'm a picky Maritimer. Fries came with BloodyMary ketchup! We shared a couple of interesting local appetizer plates.  (When reserving they asked for a credit card.  The concierge at our hotel said no, just go.  Closed  Sundays)

Mamma Pizza on Dronningens Gate -- small,  local Italian restaurant. Very busy.  Pastas and pizzas. We  had a couple of v nice pasta dishes. (Recommended by the concierge as her fav local.  We were quite early for dinner after a long day of wandering & it was packed.)

Both of these are within a few blocks of the train station.  Easy access.  Mamma's was a little tricky to find as there was construction on the street.

 

We had a great lamb dinner at a place a few blocks from the Opera house. Set menu -- either lamb or Arctic Char the night we were there.   I'll try to find the name. (Expensive)

 

We do have a fav pizza place in Oslo --- Teatro.  Very interesting toppings.  Definitely not your traditional Italian pizza.  It is quite near the National Theatre.  We discovered it on our first trip to Oslo and is on our "must do" list. Closed Mondays.

I agree with @2cruisecats, Teatro Pizza in the Hotel Christiania Teatro is great! We stayed at the hotel in 2018 after our Homelands cruise and had dinner there twice.  We also at a wonderful (expensive) seafood dinner at Restaurant Fjord, a short walk from the Royal Palace and another nice dinner (expensive)  at Solsiden Restaurant, lovely setting on the water near the Oslo cruise terminal.  Enjoy your time in Oslo!

As I understand, all of the restaurants in Oslo are really expensive…we will be on vacation…if the food is really good, then it’s worth paying!

Quite a coincidence!  2018, after our Homelands, we stayed at the Grand and discovered Teatro.  This summer was our third (and I hope not last) visit.

 

And, for fun, here's the lobster roll at Norda --  radish, cucumber and salmon roe on top.  And BloddyMary ketchup to go with those fab fries.

They are all expensive. Some are worth it.

Thanks @2cruisecats. The lobster roll looks yummy!  We are headed back to Oslo in late August before our BIE cruise and will definitely try Norda Restaurant.

Unfortunately, they’re closed for the next month or so. I was really looking forward to dining there.

Yes. Some things a little shaky but good overall.
