Palm Beach at Night Transfer

I saw a RCL shore excursion offered called Palm Beach transfer and was wondering if anyone that has done this can share information on what it involves and how you are transported - bus, cab-other, and what it is that you do and where.  There wasn't much detail in the trip description.  Thanks for any insight.

We have this purchased right now as well. We took a taxi to Eagle Beach in the day this past March and would consider taking a taxi to Palm Beach as well- but weren't sure if that was a good idea. Wish someone would pop on here to tell us a bit more about getting around Aruba at night.

I can help you out.  We've been vacationing in Aruba every year for many years. You can take the bus to Palm Beach if you want, but I wouldn't take it back. The bus only runs every 30 minutes at night, and it's often late. We've stood at the bus stop several times, and have finally given up and taken a taxi. The best way to get a taxi back to the ship is to walk over to one of the many resorts. There's usually a line of taxis waiting for passengers in front of the resorts. We actually don't use the bus much anymore.  Taxis are so much easier and quicker. The bus makes a lot of stops along the way. The taxi will take about 15 minutes to get back to the port from Palm Beach.

Would you happen to know the cost of a taxi from Palm Beach to the cruise port?  We are planning to take the bus to Palm Beach, but our ship is in port until 11:00PM so we'll be heading back after dark.

The current taxi fare from downtown to Palm Beach is $13.00. There will be an additional charge if they pick you up inside the cruise port. In the past that has been $3.00. The taxis are charged an extra fee to enter the cruise port. Some drivers haven't paid for cruise port privileges, but thats not a problem.  They'll let you off right outside of the cruise gate. We've done that before.  Taxi rates will probably go up in 2023 because gas is over $6.00 a gallon there right now. By law, they can only carry 5 passengers.

Thank you so much for the information! I bet we will drop this transfer, as it appears we are paying the same rate as one person in the taxi x2 where we can each ride in the cab for the same price 🙂

Thanks @Hatterass 51 .  I think I'll keep it as an excursion as the price is less than $20 and the bus is to drop us off at the nightlife strip and will return to get us a a certain time hours later.  As it's ship sponsored, no chance of getting left behind if the for hire taxi's and buses have issues

Do you negotiate and/or confirm the taxi fare before getting in the car, or do you just get in and see what it is when you arrive at your destination?

Taxi fares are set by the government.  There are a few who might try to add a little to the price,  so always ask what the fare is before you go.

We ended at Palm Beach area for a catamaran excursion and it was tough getting a taxi back as we had to walk to a resort…there were none lined up…but the resort called one for us.   I’m thinking the transfer from ship is probably best for us this time.
