Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2023

Recommended Posts

Although it is usually December before tickets go on sale for the following year, just a heads up that tickets for 2023 are already on sale.   This year the "theme" was "Voices", next year it will be "Stories". As yet no performers announced.  This years performances only finished 3 days ago.

There was quite a change in direction this year and Tripadvisor reviews are very mixed instead of the usual 4 and 5 stars.. We ourselves were quite critical when we watched it on tv yesterday evening, and for us, that is  unusual.

We are doing the Princess British Isles cruise in 2023. The Tattoo excursion is already sold out. We were wondering the feasibility of going by train and going to the early show (it would be a Friday) would be. Out boat leaves at 2am on Saturday.

Which port are you calling at? If you're going to be at one of the Edinburgh locations, there should be no difficulty in getting to and from central Edinburgh on your own, especially as you'd have heaps of time to get back to the ship after the early show.

If you're trying to do this from Glasgow, it should still be possible but would require planning in finer detail.

Sorry to disappoint, but you say you want to attend on a Friday and the only day of the week offering two shows is a Saturday,

Mon-Fri there is only one show per evening. There will be ticket  and performance info on the official Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2023 website.

You mention a train so perhaps you will be docking in Glasgow? if so, this from post #3 would be relevant If you're trying to do this from Glasgow, it should still be possible but would require planning in finer detail.

We were lucky in 2014 that we had an overnight, actually in Rosyth. We spent the day in Edinburgh and then went to the Tattoo. We had bought round trip train tickets, but unfortunately the last train back had already departed when we got there. We ended up taking a cab back.

Does anyone have a restaurant recommendation that is near the Military Tattoo?  We will be attending on a Friday evening.  Thanks!

I always enjoy Howies.

(You want the one in Victoria Street)

Or, for high end Italian, Divino Enoteca.

Both 5-10 minutes walk from the castle.
