We are doing an NCL cruise in early April.  We are interested in doing a whale watching excursion which is NOT an NCL excursion.  Ports of call are Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatalan and Ensenada.

Any recommendations??

Thanks!!

The number of whales present will fall off rapidly after April 1. I wouldn't book a whale watch trip after then solely for whales. You could easily be disappointed.

It is commonly discussed here that the best place for whale watching in the Mexican Rivera is Cabo, so if are going to try, that would be the place.

"Whale watching season" typically runs from December 15th through March 15th.  The exact dates of whale watching season are set by the SEMARNAT (the Secretariat of the Environment and Natural Resources for Mexico).  The Mexican government determines when excursion operators can book tours.  Although Vallarta's season started a week early this year, I wouldn't count on booking an excursion in late March/early April.

Enjoy! . . .
