Norwegian immigration/passport control

Does Norwegian immigration board ships on fjords cruises to check passports, or are immigration formalities conducted on shore.  Or is Norway one of those countries where Cunard collects passports before arrival and returns them at a later date?  I guess there is a fourth possibility - no visible immigration process.  Just curious as we'll be doing the fjords this summer.

Thanks!

On our recent QM2 voyage from Southampton to Norway in November 2022, it was the fourth possibility - no visible immigation process.  Our first port was Bergen, and we walked off the ship with no checks.  Same upon the return to Southampton.  We retained our passports the entire time - they were not collected onboard.   I imagine that everything was handled in the background from the passports shown when we embarked in Southampton.
