Rainbow Beach

We spent our day in St Croix at Rhythms on Rainbow Beach. It’s a short cab ride from the port and you can see the cruise ships in the distance off to the left. We had the rum drinks in the bucket, mahi bites, and fries. The food at the restaurant is really good. The beach is nice, but there are some rocks in the water. It looks like the water is usually calm, but we had waves, so I didn’t go in the water. We had a great time and would visit this beach again.

We also went to Rhythm on Rainbow beach this week. $5 taxi ride one way, per person, but you could walk as well ( about 20 minutes). Great food, drinks, very clean bathrooms. Super nice staff.  Nice clean sand. Long stretch of beach to walk if desired.

Rented 2 chairs 1 umbrella $40

I went in the water: clean and clear. Some shells and a little drop off in places but then easy to stand in the water.

I was at Rainbow Beach during a cruise about 6 years ago, went there again last week (March 2023).

The beach has become more popular since our first visit, three rows of chairs and umbrellas spread down the beach, maybe 100 umbrellas, they keep adding more as people arrive. Probably a lot less people when a cruise ship is not in port.

Not saying this is bad, just be prepared to see a lot of people. It is a  long beach, you can walk further down the beach and set down a towel if you want to get away from the people.

The beach bar-restaurant Rhythms is going strong and has a bunch of seating. You can also grab food and drinks to-go and take it to the beach. New restrooms have been constructed in a separate building so you no longer have to walk through the restaurant to reach them. They are available to the public.

You do not need to arrange for a cab to come back and pick you up, you can just walk out to the street and grab a cab on demand. When one van fills up they head back to port and the next cab pulls up. As noted above, $5 per person each way.

The restaurant is to the right, not visible in this photo. You can see to the left the beach extends way down and there is plenty of open space once you go past the umbrellas and lounge chairs.
