Does anyone know if Tmobile works on the ship?

No, the ship has its own sattelite network and your phone will connect to that. Land based phone/internet service does only work as long as you are close to land (usually within 3 miles).

The ship is like traveling to a foreign country. You can connect to the ship's cell tower. T-Mobile (not the ship) will charge you their prices for using that service. For example, If you have T-Mobile Simple Choice Plan service, you get a discounted rate of $5.99/minute for phone calls and $0.50 per text message sent. 

 

So, a 10 minute call home will cost you $60. 

 

A telemarketer calls you, minimum of $6

 

Leave your phone in airplane mode. Set Data Roaming to Off.

My T-Mobile works in port.  I have a plan that includes texting and data.  Calls were 25 cents a minute (Honduras and Belize) and included in Mexico.  On the ship i leave in airplane mode because it’s some insane rate for any text data or call.  
 

check which plan you have and what it includes on their web site as far as the ports you are going to.
