wmjivey Posted April 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2023 On our next cruise in the United Kingdom there will be a lot of traveling by motorcoach through some very scenic countryside. Does anyone recommend those flexible lens hoods made for this? TIA John
Rare pierces Posted April 29, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2023 Large rubber hood, no polarizer (plexiglass windows or UV-blocker films interract badly), and a light weight black hooded sweatshirt or windbreaker to minimize reflections from behind the camera. 1/1000s minimum. My recipe. Dave
Rare mskaufman Posted April 30, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2023 I have tried them and they work to an extent. Sometimes they are a little unwieldy. Also, they can block your view so you can't see what is upcoming. I have had some success putting the camera close to the glass, which eliminates reflection. This often works although sometimes the color needs to be corrected in post processing.
bobjoek Posted May 29, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 29, 2023 I have placed the camera lens against the glass with decent results. However if the sun is shining on the glass, you may get unwanted reflections. Bob
Rare mskaufman Posted May 29, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 29, 2023 I also have decent results with the lens against the glass. I also bought a hood (not the usual lens hood) which was effective. Problem was that it blocked my view so I could not see upcoming photo ops.
