Westminster Curio or Hampton Waterloo?

Recommended Posts

HI all, we're staying two nights pre-cruise in London and trying to decide between these two hotels. They are same cost-wise. Curio seems closer to the sights we want to see, but Hampton is right by Waterloo station if we take the train to Southampton. Thanks in advance!

Tricky one! Personally, I’d stay at the Curio (for others, that’s what was the Mint, and the City Inn before that, on John Islip Street), partly because I know and like that corner of Westminster well. It’s tucked away, whereas the Hampton is on a main road, and a few steps away from the river. And you would feel more in the sights, as you say.

Downside, it’s not particularly convenient for any tube station (but you’re never more than about 10 minutes away in central London). Lots of buses on Millbank and Horseferry Road though.

Stayed at the Hampton Waterloo, but have never stayed at the Curio. Curio should be a much higher standard than Hampton.  The Hampton is very convenient, as it's 2 minutes walk from Waterloo Station.  Downside is that it's a very basic hotel, especially the breakfast room with the trays.  The rooms are nice though, Hilton brand standard.
