Day at Sea ?

I have read the boards and I keep seeing posts about activities that are available during the "fun day at sea." How do you know what activities are available and when? Does the ship have a daily newsletter (We are booked on Carnival Triumph)?

The ships newsletter should show up underneath your door every morning. Look it over @ breakfast. If you don't, you might miss something you would have liked to try. Metrowon

This is where the colored highlighters come in handy! I highlight my "fun times" with yellow, he highlights his with blue, and we see, every so often, one that "fun time" turns out green . . . yes, there are a few things we both like to do. :D

You can pick up an extra copy of the daily capers at the pursers desk, so you each have one to mull over ( also in different languages). There will be the usual poolside games ( hair chest, tag team races etc. ) Ice carving on deck, galley tour, newly wed/ not-so-newly-wed games. You can get an idea of what's in it by doing a search for 'capers' on the Carnival board. A lot of cruisers have them scanned and veiwable online. There is so many choices that it'll be hard to choose. Have a great cruise!

It truly depends on the activity. For example, they might have a sexy mens legs contest and if you want to be in the contest then you'd have to sign up and yes it would fill up very quickly, but most people get a bigger kick out of just watching. Another contest might be a scavenger hunt and while you have to sign up it's not likely to fill up. Another one might be ice sculpting, but that's something you just go to watch. Most things you can't sign up early for, you just show up 10, 15 or 20 mins ahead of time or often right on the dot.

I used highlighters on our last cruise so i wouldn't forget the things i wanted to do either, like the blackjack contest!

I like the highlighter tip. Thanks. I will have to add that to my list. My wife thinks I am nuts already with all the things I am planning on bringing so what's one more.

As for the blackjact contest ... No thanks I live in Las Vegas so I can do that anytime. But Goodluck with that.

We did 3 whole days at Sea when we took Carnival Fascination. We were supposed to go to Nassau, but hurricane Jeanne was there in Sept. 2004. We went to the pool, we gambled in the casino (hubby won $337), they have trivia games, shows, shopping on board, and an internet cafe. You can find all kinds of things to do. However, we had one complaint with Carnival. We didn't always get our newsletter the night before. We would sometimes get it by 10 am the next day and therefore missed some activities we would have maybe tried. They have exercise rooms, spas, a walking track on the top level and sometimes movies will be shown in the theatre. So there is plenty to do. As long as the weather cooperates. I will always feel like we missed out going to Nassau and someday I'd like to try to get there again.
