The old days... got the 30% discount coupon while onboard the ship.

Booked my next cruise through my Internet agent, then called the casino department with the

booking number & they applied the discount. This worked out great because my agency always

gave OBC, free gratuities,etc.

NOW... no certificate onboard. Just got it in the email. Free balcony cabin & $150 OBC.

You CANNOT use your own agent anymore. No status discount can be applied.

I asked about upgrade to YC.   They said my new price for YC would be $2259........

If I book through my agent, the price would be $3000. I could get my diamond discount & they are currently giving $800. OBC.

In my eyes, the MSC Casino just went from the best at sea to the worst.

I cannot see any benefit in booking with them......can you ?   (unless you want to use the cabin category provided )

just for reference...I had 18,000 points

I think going forward it will all depend one the cruise you pick if it makes sense to use a casino certificate and upgrade.  Our cruise that we booked for 10 nights next year was $9,000 for the YC and we paid around what you have listed as your casino rate for the YC, so that is worth it.

Yes, very disappointed in the new MSC Casino.  We received a cert and was told on board it was for 30% off but went to book and was told its for a Bella Inside for 5 days??? Really so I ask about upgrading to YC via email and am quoted a price. Called Casino dept and was given a totally different price and then got disconnected.  Called back and was given another totally different price.  I told them about the email price I was quoted and was told that I should email them to book.  So I email asking for someone to call me and they reply that they can't and to email my issue, so I did and I hope to get a reply.

We sailed in April under the new rules and there were different types of certificates you could get.  One was for only USA sailing 2-5 night and another for 6-8 night USA Only and another for worldwide 7 -10 night.  Each had a different point amount for certain level.   Has this since changed?

I tend to now just book with a certificate via email because they seem to know the system and get the information correct

Hopefully I will be able to do this as well but still not happy with what we were told as opposed as to what we actually got.  Our last sailing was booked under the old program, not happy with the new one.

  Lucky you it worked out.

For me it probably will never again because I want the YC, I am a bit better off just booking with my regular agent.

Say farewell to the old casino discount. It is clear to me that there is no benefit in trying to book the YC.  The new system is for the Bella people looking for a cheap cruise…sad
