Tour or ferry to Trois Islet

Hi- looking at a tour option (with some of those recommended on the forum) or taking the ferry to Toi Islet. Anyone got any opinions? we are not really lying on the beach people so prefer to wander around nice towns, see some scenery etc. but also quite independent travelers so happy to DIY local transport. From wat i have read there doesn't  seem to be much to in port so keen to get out and explore as not an island we have done before.

All suggestions welcome (we are there on a Friday in November).

thanks

Nothing of note at TI…. Contact Karambole Tours, they have great tour offerings

On return one must pickup a few bottles of La Favorite La Filbuste from the quayside Duty Free, being a perfect way to round off a wonderful day with Karambole.

Additional - Remember

Fort de France is a fully working French town/port, think Calais.  It’s not what one may perceive as being the usual Caribbean island port/town, such as St.Johns Antigua.

There is a main thoroughfare, about 5 minutes from town pier, with shops etc., with other outlets down side streets off.  There is also a large Carrefour supermarket 15/20 minutes walk north of the town port.  As Martinique is actually part of France, the shop prices are identical to, sometimes higher, those found in a main town in France.

If making a high value purchase, then ask for a Tax Free form (Passport required), drop off the tax reclaim firm at the port Customs office.

It's easy to take the ferry to Trois Islets.  When we were there in March, it was $8 US round trip but I think it was going up to $9.  The ferry pier is very close to the main downtown cruise pier.  There is a bit of snorkeling at the coves around the rocks--go straight after leaving the ferry area to get to the beach.  No services there, unfortunately.  Not sure whether you can get a day pass at the Hotel Bakoua next door.

If you take a left after leaving the ferry area there are shops and restaurants and another beach, Anse Mitan.  Some of the ferries actually go to Anse Mitan before they go to Point du Bout.  We got off there and walked around before going to Tres Islets.

Should I just take the ferry to Anse Mitan?
