Suite assignment GTY

Does anyone know who actually assigns GTY suites prior to sailing - is it SS Head Office in the USA or the passenger’s local SS city office - eg Sydney?

Good question.  RCL employs a "Manager, Hotel Finance, Onboard Revenue, and G&A".  Could be that person has some say in final assignments.

I bet it’s a HO function - having regional sales offices make those decisions would be chaotic as it needs a central point of management - imagine competing regions trying to take all of the potential upgrade spots….

Never mind my previous post.  SS doesn't bid out upgrades using a 3rd party company the way Celebrity does.  So the person I mentioned wouldn't have a role.

 

Guarantees are a little more complicated there.  Especially for more fully booked cruises, only after it becomes clearer about how the flow of the upgrade bidding process is moving and available inventory more clear would it be possible to assign guarantees.  Too many years traveling on X needs to be unwound in my new SS brain!

Knowing what cruise line's IT is like I doubt that would make any difference😄

It’s handled at the head office.  It can be assigned anytime, from immediately after booking, or you might not know till you board.

Suite number has come through with a 3 category upgrade from Vista - very happy with that whoever was the assignee 🥂
